「始動！大型無操縦者航空機によるエリアカバレッジの構築実証」 あけましておめでとうございます。ソフトバンク研究講座　研究員の木村です。 今年も皆様にとって素晴らしい年になりますようお祈り申し上げます。 さて、私たちが取り組む研究は国からの委託研究であり、「災害時の応急エリアカバレッジのための無線通信技術の研究開発」です。2023年10月18日、情報通信研究機構（以下、NICT）と契約を締結しました。研究期間は今年度から５年間で、藤井先生のご指導のもと、大地震などの災害時対応の次世代携帯通信インフラの一つとして、構築できればと考えています。 研究内容は、図に示すように、災害時などの非常時に無線中継装置を搭載した大型無操縦者航空機 (UAV) を、災害時上空を臨時に飛行させ、地上の携帯通信システムと同一の周波数を使って地上の携帯通信システムに干渉を及ぼさないで無線中継を実現する世界に先駆けた取り組みです。 このように専用の周波数を持つことなく、通常のスマホを災害時でもそのまま使えるシステムを構築することで、「社会インフラ」の一つでもある携帯通信をいつでも、どこでも平常時と変わらずに使える「備えあれば、憂いなし」の社会を創っていければと考えています。 機会があれば、今後詳しくご説明を致します。   "Initiation! Demonstration of Area Coverage Construction by Large Unmanned Aerial Vehicles" Researcher: Kiyoshi Kimura Happy New Year. I am Kiyoshi Kimura, a researcher at the SoftBank Research Lecture. I pray that this year will be a wonderful one for all of you. Now, the research we are working on is a commissioned research from the government, titled 'Research and Development of Wireless Communication Technology for Emergency Area Coverage during Disasters.' On October 18, 2023, we signed a contract with the National Institute of Information and Communications Technology (NICT). The research period is five years from this fiscal year, and under the guidance of Professor Fujii, we aim to establish it as one of the next-generation mobile communication infrastructures for disaster response, such as in the event of a major earthquake. The content of the research, as shown in the diagram, involves a world-leading initiative where large unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs) equipped with wireless relay devices are temporarily flown over disaster areas to perform wireless relay without interfering with the ground mobile communication system using the same frequency as the ground mobile communication system. By building a system that can use regular smartphones during disasters without a dedicated frequency, we aim to create a society where mobile communication, a vital part of social infrastructure, can be used anytime and anywhere as usual, embodying the concept of 'forewarned is forearmed.' I will provide a more detailed explanation if the opportunity arises.
